There will be a time when one will have come such a long way over the high way of God, that the valleys would cease to appear… just the hilltops would appear to us. After we have passed through these valleys which may seem less desirable than the hills, we may look back over the [...]

American futurist Alvin Toffler said, “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.” And so it is with these unprecedented times... being prepared and ready, while also remaining full of hope and expectancy for whatever church will be in the [...]

Shine a Light on Your Story

Yielding self means giving up the old concepts of the past; forgetting ourselves and our human desire to come forth, and just rejoicing that all God’s creation constantly springs forth in newness of life and light and joy and service. -Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, 1918 I am a “drama” addict - there I said [...]

Advent and Christmas is a time for telling the truth—the truth of our weariness and our anxiety, yes, but also the truth of relentless generosity. The entire season of Advent is about something on the horizon coming, something we’ve never seen before. It is a season of asking “what is possible?” An invitation to begin [...]

It is Charles Fillmore’s birthday today, he would have been 165 years old. So I offer this essay about “the Silence.” His meditation practice was referred to as Practicing the Silence, and then there is the Silence itself, a state of consciousness. It was a gift given to us from the co-founder of Unity 120 [...]

In honor of the 174th birthday of Myrtle Fillmore (co-founder of Unity), I thought I'd share a few of my favorite OPENING lines from letters, as well as a couple poetic verses and lessons. Myrtle Fillmore is responsible for the beginnings of Silent Unity, the 24-hour telephone prayer ministry that is more than 125 years [...]

Peace Is Like Warm Syrup

By |2018-12-09T10:12:20-06:00December 9th, 2018|Christianity, Faith, Interconnected, Peace|

It's the second week of Advent, the week we focus on PEACE, and I am wondering how much peace everyone is feeling or practicing in light of events, both here at home and abroad. Sometimes peace can seem a little out of reach or maybe for a few folks, even difficult to define. I [...]

Bubble Up Faith

By |2018-02-09T19:26:27-06:00December 16th, 2017|Evolution, Faith, Greater Reality, Self Reflection|

I have yet to meet a person who doesn’t love bubbles. The fascination begins in childhood, and never leaves. Regardless of our age, we have always loved bubbles at bath time, having your nose tickled as you lift a carbonated drink to your lips, practicing blowing bubbles with chewing gum, even making shapes with the [...]

Keep Calm and Blah, Blah, Blah…

Sometimes when I consult with churches, I provide marketing and communications support. Before ministry I was the Creative and Art Director for a design and marketing agency in Phoenix. So for more than 23 years, I have kept myself on the cutting edge of advertising and helping people grow their businesses (including churches) - well, [...]

Our Spiritual Sense of Hearing as Prayer

By |2021-07-23T07:10:49-05:00September 5th, 2014|Community, Consciousness, God, Greater Reality, Interconnected, Prayer, Self Reflection, Transformation|

One of the treasures in my life is the ability to lose myself in a song. Closing my eyes and allowing the words and music to play through me – to stop listening with my ears and listen with my heart. As the music washes over me, my mind relaxes, my breathing slows and I quietly drift into unexpected places of creation. This is the sacred discipline of deep listening, of being spiritually attentive through our hearing sense.
